Day 1 Itinerary
Arrival in Cape Town
Welcome to Cape Town. transfer to your hotel. The evening is yours to enjoy the hotel’s elegant surrounds or head down to fashionable Kloof Street for a night out.
Day 2 Itinerary
Cape Town Sightseeing
After breakfast head off on foot today for a stroll through the historic streets of Cape Town. The route winds its way through vibrant Green Market Square to District Six Museum, a memorial to the forced movement of 60,000 inhabitants of various races in District Six during the apartheid era. Amble through the peaceful Company Gardens and admire many of the city’s iconic landmarks including the Grand Parade, Castle of Good Hope and City Hall, where Nelson Mandela was welcomed back after 27 years in prison.
In the afternoon, we head to the marvellous Victoria & Alfred (V&A) Waterfront complex on Table Bay Harbour to tour the Zeitz Museum, the largest museum of contemporary African art in the world, with the Executive Director and Chief Curator; followed by a welcome dinner at The Silo, a magical space in a landmark new hotel overlooking the harbour.

Day 3 Itinerary
Cape Town Sightseeing
After breakfast you'll visit, Moya we Khaya, one of the most successful township farms in Khayelitsha in the Cape Flats. This inspiring project encourages people to combat poverty through growing food sustainably and organically. Over a cup of tea we’ll meet project director Mama Kaba to hear about township life and how the garden was established. After a stroll around the gardens, roll up your sleeves and pick the vegetables which we’ll take back to the hotel for our chefs to prepare a delicious farm-to-fork lunch.
In the afternoon, explore the lower slopes of Table Mountain on foot with a botanical guide who will introduce us to the remarkable diversity of fynbos, the native bushland of the southern Cape’s coastal plains and mountains which is under threat. South Africa’s national flower, the king protea, is perhaps the most famous species of fynbos. Sundowners and canapés on the mountainside are a perfect end to the day.

Day 4 Itinerary
Cape Town – Grootbos Private Nature Reserve
After breakfast, Heading out of the city we travel south to the historic village of Stellenbosch and on to Babylonstoren. Dating back to 1692, this historic Cape Dutch farm boasts one of the best preserved farmyards in the Cape. Treasured for its magnificent garden that is laid out over 3.5 hectares we’ll take a guided walking tour of the grounds which are divided into 15 sections comprising fruit, vegetables, berries, bees for pollinating, indigenous plants, fragrant lawns, a prickly pear maze, ducks and chickens, and more.
Continue to Fraschhoek for lunch before a walking tour of the charming village. Admire the harmony of its Cape Dutch architecture and listen to tales of its colourful inhabitants. We arrive at Grootbos Private Nature Reserve later this afternoon.
Overlooking Walker Bay and falling within the Cape Floristic Kingdom, Grootbos Nature Reserve, nestled between mountain and sea, is an eco-paradise that showcases the incredible flora and marine life of the southern tip of Africa. Revel in the 'Marine Big 5' (whales, sharks, dolphins, seals and penguins) and in the unparalleled floral diversity which Grootbos offers.

Day 5 Itinerary
Grootbos Private Nature Reserve
Botanical attractions abound today on our 4WD flower safari. With the richest temperate flora in the world and six completely new species, our time at Grootbos will give you an entirely different perspective on plants and flowers.There are some 800 recorded plant species in the 2,500 hectares of pristine wilderness and the fascinating story of fynbos and forest is brought to life as we touch, smell and see the natural miracles that surround us. We’ll observe how a sunbird’s beak fits perfectly into a flower, learn why the honey produced by Grootbos’ bees is completely unique and how important bush fires are for rejuvenation.
Later this afternoon take an entrancing stroll through the Milkwood forest or a more energetic hike up the fynbos-clad mountains, revealing a little more of what makes Grootbos so special. From a sunbird sipping from a flower to an ocean vista that leaves you breathless, surprises await around every corner. Trails are all well marked and there are self-guided or guided walks. Gaze into the petals of a king protea, breathe in the blackcurrant scent of buchu or simply listen to the exquisite silence that surrounds you.

Day 6 Itinerary
Grootbos Private Nature Reserve day 2
Heading out onto the water today, we board a luxury whale watching boat in Gansbaai for a marine biologist led trip taking in the unique marine wildlife of the area. Sightings of the Southern Right Whale on their migratory path to the sub-Antarctic are common between July and December. In addition to whales, we may also be lucky in spotting dolphins, penguins, seals and great white sharks. In the afternoon we’ll hone our bird watching skills on an excursion to a unique coastal birding hotspot. With 118 different bird species, Grootbos is uniquely positioned to offer both avid birders and curious novices a rich and varied birding experience. Glimpse the vivid orange of a Sunbird’s breast, see a Cape Sugarbird sipping on nectar or spot a rare Black Harrier. Cool Afromontane forests, the rocky coastline and serene estuaries provide a magnificent backdrop to our birding outings. Experienced guides will share fascinating facts and help spot rare and endemic birds feeding and breeding in these different ecosystems. This evening enjoy a special farewell dinner.

Departure
After breakfast, transfer to Cape Town Airport for your onward flight.
